Creating awareness in the minds of the Consumers

A Heirloom (Native / Desi) Seeds Festival was organized at Pune city during Diwali time (November 2018). Initially planned for a week's duration, the festival was extended by another week due to the interest generated. The rice festival consisted of a dedicated menu drawn from the indigenous rice varieties from soup to dessert, along with a display of rice grains and whole rice stocks. "The proof of the pudding is in the eating.", and this was a rather unique way to introduce the nuanced tastes of native grains along with a display. It provided us an opportunity to get feedback as well as support which would help us reach out to more farmers in context to our conservation programme.
